San Diego Rock and Roll marathon course video!

Many people say that you should try to drive the course you'll be running to get a feel for what to expect.

Since I'll probably not be visiting San Diego before race day, this seemed pretty impossible until, lucky me stumbled on something even better - VIDEO!

I had no idea that this existed but after kicking around the SD RNR site for a bit - found it.

Yeeeeee ha.

Some of it looks city-ish and the highway looks slightly boring but all in all it seems I'll have a lot to look around at as I run.  For better or worse I am signed up and California here I come!!

XO

PS: It's a little annoying that the video spills into the side bar but the main action is watchable...

this is pretty cool!
If you want you can reduce the size of the image
you have to change it on youtube page before you copy the codes

oops I see it is not from youtube but you can still change the size in the codes before you copy them

Looks like a gorgeous course. Wise choice for your first mary as there is realtively no elevation gain there.

The only issue I see is having to climb fences and run backwards. That may hurt your time.

Jason, that's hilarious as I was worried about the jumping of fences and running backwards too! :P

I understand Julie - 26.2 is a heavy decision and it's $$ - I think Lesley isthisclose to being in!!

Oh, I think I'm mentally in. The question will be whether it's just me flying in, or if I bring the whole family for vacation!

First... Seriously, that is A LOT of turns, nevermind the stoplights, fences, trams, traffic, and backwards running. ;-)

Second... Every non-runner should have to watch this video... it gives a real concept of just how freakin' far 26.2 miles is... and you know what, *I* needed to see that video to remind myself how far I went. Unbelievable. So thank you!

It would be nice to bring the family - San Diego Zoo, Sea World, etc... Unfortunately, it'll just be me - I think...

Yes, it is far!! My twin sis couldn't even watch the whole thing and started to fast forward it thru it... she pretty much told me it was a ridiculous thing to do... needless to say, sis doesn't quite get the whole running thing.

That's so neat they have a course video!!!! Don't you feel super pumped watching it? Woohoo, marathons!!!!!

I do feel pumped watching it. I love that the RNR people took the time to do that - I'll watch it no less than a zillion times between now and then, I may try to mentally picture some places on the video as I do my long runs to help me visualize getting to my goals. By the time I get there, I hope I'll feel like I've run this course a few times and have a semi-familiarity with it.
